Glade Run Lutheran Services is honored to provide Family Group Decision Making in Lawrence County. The Family Group Decision-Making (FGDM) Program is a family-centered approach that empowers families to take an active role in creating solutions for challenges they face. By bringing together family members, friends, and support networks, FGDM fosters a structured, collaborative process to develop sustainable plans that ensure the safety, well-being, and long-term stability of children and families.
FGDM is built on the belief that families are the experts in their own lives and, when provided with the right tools and support, can create meaningful change. This approach strengthens family engagement, accountability, and problem-solving skills, reducing reliance on external interventions.
Beyond its effectiveness in strengthening families, FGDM is also a cost-effective model. By prioritizing family-driven solutions, the program helps prevent costly out-of-home placements, lowers recidivism rates, and improves the efficiency of service coordination. Engaging families in decision-making reduces dependency on formal interventions, minimizes emergency response costs, and promotes long-term self-sufficiency. These benefits lead to both immediate and long-term savings for the child welfare system while ensuring better outcomes for children and families.
