What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy?

DBT Resources

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is designed to help individuals with multiple problems such as emotional instability, anxiety, eating disorders, suicidal behavior, drug and alcohol abuse, depression, a history of trauma, or borderline personality disorder.

This treatment model focuses on a balance between dialectics, such as emotions and reason, acceptance and change. DBT provides a group environment to learn, process, and practice coping skills to use in daily life. Such skills help to change the cognitive, emotional and behavioral patterns that contributed to distress.
