Thank you for choosing Glade Run’s Counseling Center to meet your needs.  We offer a wide variety of services within the Outpatient Counseling Centers, including Individual, Family and Group Therapy.  Each therapist has specialties to address your needs.  Take a few minutes to read more about our team of therapists at each site to learn how they can assist you in meeting your goals.  Feel free to contact me or the site supervisor to answer any questions you may have.  We look forward to serving you.  We also offer psychiatric services including evaluations and medication management.

Program Offering

Master’s level therapists provide treatment to meet individualized goals. Therapists use a variety of methods that may include individual, couples, family or group
therapy.

On-site psychiatric services are also available for both evaluation and medicine management purposes.

The Cranberry Office is regularly staffed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30. Evening hours are also available by appointment.

Larissa Smith

I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been working with adult individuals and couples, families, special populations, those on the Autism spectrum, and children for over 20 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. My passion for direct care as well as leadership comes from my desire to assist and help others through difficult times and new learning experiences, whether they be personal or professional, while offering hope and encouragement to define goals and enhance growth and self-development. I also have experience counseling individuals and children with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and difficulties that have developed from trauma. I also work with families who are dealing with the struggles of parenting young children and teens as well as those who are working through divorce. I have training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitzation Reprocessing (EMDR), Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed Care, as well as those suffering with Drug and Alcohol Disorders. I also believe that there is great importance in identifying with the client centered need for empowerment in all aspects of strengths and skill sets while providing education in regard to spiritual health and holistic healing.

“The difference between a stepping stone and a stumbling block is how you deal with it.” -Unknown Kristin is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been working in the mental health field for several years after leaving a career as a musician. She completed a graduate degree in Counseling at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in 2013, and since graduation she has been working primarily as an addictions counselor. As a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Kristin is trained to work with a variety of mental health concerns. Her areas of concentration include depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions (i.e. job concerns, coping with medical concerns), relationship challenges, and addiction; she also works with clients on concerns related to grief and loss of all types as she is Certified in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement. Kristin sees adolescents, adults, and couples. In sessions, Kristin primarily uses a person-centered approach to counseling, as well as concepts from cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. Her ultimate goal in sessions is to help you learn to use your strengths as a person to achieve your goals in life.

I have a Bachelor’s degree from Grove City College and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. My passion for counseling comes from my desire to help others through difficult times and offer hope and encouragement. I have experience counseling individuals and children with anxiety, depression and difficulties that developed from trauma. I also enjoy counseling families who are dealing with the struggles of parenting young children and teens. I place a great deal of significance on spiritual health and utilize the Christian faith in order to instill hope, significance and belonging.

Mary Joe Davis, M.A., L.P.C. is a licensed pastoral counselor specializing in treating depression, anxiety, marriage counseling, and drug and alcohol recovery, as well as women’s issues.

A native of Ellwood City, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree and her Master of Arts in Professional Psychology from Geneva College in Beaver Falls. She has been providing counseling in Beaver and Butler Counties since 1979.

Mary Joe is also an adjunct Instructor of Psychology for CCBC and BC3. She also provides workshops and seminars regarding stress management, assertiveness training, and parenting skills.

She’s been employed as an outpatient therapist at Glade Run for 12 years

Stacie Brethauer, BA, MSL

I came to the Field of Counseling, with a genuine desire to come along side people as they take their journey through life.  Encouraging, supportive, challenging as needed, but always warm and engaging are words that individuals would use to describe my ‘therapeutic style’.

I have 27 years of working with kids and their families, in a variety of settings.  As a licensed Behavior Specialist, I bring a unique perspective and a plethora of proven, effective, real-life strategies that really work with kids who are struggling with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other behavioral issues.  Fun and relatable, kids will forget that they are ‘doing therapy’ and will be able to make positive changes, that make life easier for you as a parent.

In addition to work my work with families, I come alongside individuals/adults dealing with a variety of challenges, including (but not limited) to depression, anxiety, trauma, co-dependency, life transitions, and grief.  I take a very experiential, in the moment approach to the challenges you face, tailoring treatment to you, the individual.  You will feel supported and ‘heard’, empowered with real life solutions, that will help you move you forward in a positive way.
