Glade Run Adventures offers year round therapeutic experiences for individuals with mental, emotional and/or physical challenges. Tailored to individual goals, participants of all ages can benefit from these unique interactive animal, horticulture and sensory experiences that promote social emotional learning and healing as well as social skills development. All staff who instruct therapeutic riding lessons are trained through certifying organizations in therapeutic horseback riding and have a minimum of 15 years of horsemanship experience. 2024 SPECIALIZED ADVENTURES CAMP BROCHURE

Specialized Adventures is a social skills development camp for individuals ages 8 – 18. Each two-week session runs Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Any child in need of social skill development is welcome, however, the camp is specially designed for children with moderate to high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders. 2024 INDEPENDENT RIDER CAMP BROCHURE

Independent Rider Camps are designed for riders who can independently steer and control their horses at the walk and trot in a group setting. Each weekly session runs from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. Campers will ride 1 hour per day and spend another hour doing ground work with the horses. Remaining time will be spent learning about other horse related topics (confirmation/horse parts, nutrition, lameness and first aid, competitive disciplines, working with horses) as well as caring for their horse.

ADVENTURES THERAPEUTIC LESSONS

Adventures Therapeutic Lessons may include aspects of a variety of services available through Adventures. Participants may engage in therapeutic horseback riding, equine assisted learning, environmental education and horticultural activities. All services are tailored to the needs and interests of participants. Individual and group lessons are offered through the school year in eight-week sessions from late August through late May. There is a 180 lb. weight limit for all mounted activities. Unmounted activities are also available.

Individual – $400 / 8-week, 30-minute session
Group (up to 4 people) – $550 / 8-week, 1-hour session

ADVENTURES THERAPEUTIC GROUPS

Adventures Therapeutic Groups may include aspects of a variety of services available through Adventures. Participants may engage in therapeutic horseback riding, equine assisted learning, environmental education and horticultural activities. All services are tailored to the needs and interests of participants. 

Contracted Services – Reserve your regularly scheduled space in Adventures! Participating groups are able to enjoy the wide variety of therapeutic environments and activities offered in Adventures. Specially tailored experiences with horses, small animals and the natural environment are designed to support social, emotional and mental health goals. Contracted services are an excellent option for social service agencies such as drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, residential treatment, special education schools, veterans service groups, etc. Contact Adventures Program Director JWahlenmayer@gladerun.org to learn more and set up a free Lunch & Learn tour.

Team BuildingWork together with your team to safely connect face-to-face in an innovative, experiential learning environment. Our team building activities help to develop/advance your team’s leadership skills in a fun, low-risk way, boosting team engagement and productivity. Go beyond teambuilding with relevant leadership development content in areas including self-awareness, strengths-based leadership, trust-building, employee engagement and wellbeing, diversity/inclusion and more!  This workshop partners participants with our therapy animals and tailors the session to meet your group’s specific goals. Appropriate for all age groups, our Team Building workshop is a fun and engaging experience that will leave your group feeling satisfied, connected and energized.  Contact jwahlenmayer@gladerun.org to schedule or for more information.

After School Adventures Club  – Join the club! Students may join this 8- week long club held during the school year from late August through May, Monday – Friday afternoons from 4-5 p.m. to make friends while building social and emotional skills. This club focuses on self awareness, self regulation, social awareness, relationship building and responsible decision making. Students will partner with our therapy horses in weekly one-hour sessions. Horses are excellent partners for practicing social and emotional skills. Located on the serene campus of Glade Run Adventures, experiences are non-mounted and led by equine professionals. This offering may be a contracted partnership through an agency, organization or school or may be paid for individually. Single Event Group – Schedule a visit for your group to engage in the joy of Adventures! Activities are tailored to the group participating and may be appropriate for school field trips, family activities, church youth groups and other groups looking for ways to connect with each other and the environment. Equine Assisted Wellness Workshop Relax your mind, body and spirit with an hour of guided wellness activities while partnering with our therapy horses. Feel the benefits that come from practicing established techniques to reduce stress, re-energize, engage your senses and connect with the natural world around you. This class is for anyone who is interested in overall health and wellness, looking for ways to manage the stress of daily life, or seeking relief from anxiety or depression. Research has shown that interacting with animals can decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone), lower blood pressure and help people manage their long-term mental health conditions. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Glade Run Adventures incorporates the natural environment and relationships with horses and other animals in the healing and growth process. A person-centered approach is foundational and our therapists may use interventions such as traditional cognitive therapy (CBT, DBT) paired with experiential therapies such as equine assisted therapy, play therapy and/or horticultural therapy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), an evidence-based trauma therapy, may also be included.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Glade Run Adventures proudly supports hands on STEM education for St. Stephen’s Academy, Glade Run’s licensed private K-12 school. For more information about St. Stephen’s, please visit the school page HERE.

Students have the opportunity to learn and grow at Glade Run Adventures with daily classes held in the greenhouse, barn, and outdoor gardens and classrooms.
