“The Pastors Wives of the Churches of God in Christ’s Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Pennsylvania celebrated the accomplishments of people in recovery and those who support them, and honored nine women who have made a difference in their communities at its annual Black History Achievement Awards Banquet on Oct. 27 at the Marriott Airport Hotel in Moon Township.

The nine honorees, all area African American female coaches, have excelled as role models, mentors and volunteers in the community and in the sport arena. All have the highest commitment to their communities, churches and families.

The evening’s theme, Join the Faces and the Voices for Prevention & Recovery, was celebrated in words and song aimed at fostering communication among young teens, their parents and seniors about alcohol and drugs.
